Appointment of Ian Hatton as Regional Manager for Queensland and Northern Territory

ENE.HUB has announced the appointment of Ian Hatton as Regional Manager for Queensland and Northern Territory.

In a move that signals ENE.HUB’s continued commitment to the growing South East Queensland region and beyond, Mr Hatton’s appointment will ensure the company remains a national leader in designing, deploying and operating connected urban infrastructure and data analytics products.

Mr Hatton joins ENE.HUB with close to 20 years’ experience in local and state government and the private sector in Australia and the UK managing infrastructure delivery and property development projects, digital city initiatives and economic development programs. Between 2016 and 2021, he set up and ran one of Australia’s most valuable smart city programs, including licenced telecommunications infrastructure and an IoT network that are realising $millions in revenue, savings and efficiencies for the City of Gold Coast.

ENE.HUB Co-CEO Robert Matchett was delighted with the announcement saying “Ian has an accomplished career in stewarding smart and sustainable city-shaping projects throughout South East Queensland and having his experience on the team will ensure our future growth continues. The next decade is a crucial time in Queensland’s history with the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games being a critical driver for enhanced digital connectivity, public place infrastructure and greater data insights.”

Mr Hatton will be leading the company’s activities in Queensland and the Northern Territory, including managing ENE.HUB’s existing multi-year infrastructure agreements with Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council.

“This is a really exciting time to be joining the team. ENE.HUB has been one of the leading providers of infrastructure and smart city services for nearly ten years, with a presence in most of the major cities in Australia.”

“I’m looking forward to helping ENE.HUB’s continued evolution as one of Australia’s leading 5G enablers, and to supporting Queensland and Northern Territory communities to benefit from digital infrastructure,”, Mr Hatton said of his appointment.

Mr Hatton played a leading role in delivering a digitally enabled Commonwealth Games in 2018 on the Gold Coast.  “The scale of the major infrastructure projects being delivered across Queensland and Northern Territory in the next ten years is unparalleled, culminating with the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.

“One of the things that’s really exciting about this role is the opportunity to establish smart infrastructure and neutral host 5G/6G deployment as an enduring community legacy from the Brisbane2032 Games.”

With the infrastructure required to support a growing region like South East Queensland and key redevelopment areas along the State’s regional coastline, it is critical that it is digitally-enabled and best in class to support government-led digital economy policies.

Mr Hatton’s appointment is the latest in a series of announcements of staff joining ENE.HUB in South East Queensland, as it continues to attract government and industry leaders to its ranks.
